About Me

From Jamaican parents, Adrian Whyte was born and raised in Birmingham city, United Kingdom. He had been drawn to rap music since his teenage years and had experimented making tracks with different artists and producers from the local area. Not fully focused on what he wanted or even how to get it, nothing serious materialised.

Among those people was Mike Skinner from "The Streets". Mike had moved to Brixton - London having just signed a contract with a major record label and proposed the idea of making an album together. Before "The Streets" debut single was released, Adrian moved to Brixton to live in the same house as Mike, renting the room just above him. A number of tracks were made together and their music relationship grew stronger. Mike wanted Adrian to be part of "The Streets" and to be named "Hoody". This had caused complications as Adrian wanted to be his own artist with his own contract. Unfortunately they could not see eye to eye on artist rights and legal matters and they went their separate ways.

As a back up plan for life, Adrian finished off his studies at the University of Plymouth and graduated in 2007. During his time at uni', he never paid much attention to academics. Instead, he would attend open mic nights at the student's union with a set of instrumentals on CD and entertain the crowd with his songs. Since then, he has matured and developed his own unique style and labelled it and himself "ArtWork".

Years had passed without Adrian taking his music seriously, he had found love and started to grow his family. It wasn't until 2012, when Adrian decided to have another push at making music. He posted an advert on Gumtree that he was looking for a hip hop producer from Birmingham. One of the only people to respond was a guy from Paris with Cameroonian descent called Junior Angoula aka Red Liion.

Upon meeting and showcasing their talents to each other, they were equally impressed and realised they had a lot in common. They shared the same beliefs, core values, passion for music and ambition. Although Adrian preferred the traditional "boom bap" hip hop, Junior's expertise in making trap beats, offered a sound that would allow Adrian to unlock his potential in rhyming style and appeal to a wider audience.

A Doubles has a big point to prove as he had been burnt in the past by his own inexperience and decision making. Determination and confidence in his own ability to rock the mic will lay the path leading to his big plans for the future.

I write and record my own rap songs. I perform them in venues in Birmingham city. Whilst at university, I hosted open mic night every fortnight for 8 months at the students union. I have done paid gigs as well as working for free. I have been writing lyrics since the age of 15. I have worked with Mike Skinner from the streets but did not agree to his contract terms and we went our separate ways.

General Experience

Pretty unstable growing up, parents in a constant state of disharmony. The worked so hard for the money but squandered it because they didn't work hard on themselves. This unravelled a series of events that would dictate my life until I took back control. I have siblings from both parents from previous relationships. My life experience is just as intense as yours. I have had to pretend everything is OK for a long time. I had to find words to express my emotions bottled up inside. I had to battle addictions and distractions from the world just to feel like I'm living. But from all of that, guess who's winning now!

Music in the "Urban" category. I love creating and listening to new music. My favorite pastime is reading and learning. Maintaining physical health and well being is very important to me.
